Descripción / Resumen
How can Social Work move beyond medicalizing violence to transforming it through daily professional practice? This work provides a powerful answer: a theoretical and methodological framework for International Social Work that facilitates the collective transition towards contexts of social coexistence of solidarity. Drawing from a philosophical discussion on understanding violence, the author defines it from a specific Social Work perspective: not as an isolated fact, but as a predominant form of social relationship, constituted by processes of domination/submission, impunity, and exclusion. Engaging deeply with Nelia Tello's non-dominant episteme, the book constructs a concrete proposal for professional intervention from and within the social. It guides practitioners through contexts of violence, social safety, and solidarity coexistence, offering a strategic roadmap to co-construct autonomous subjects with socio-historic responsibility while strengthening in- terdependence. This proposal is built through a critical dialogue with non-dominant epistemes of Social Work -from the Latin American perspective, to South African Emancipatory Social Work, M?ori approaches, and the pan-African philosophy of Ubuntu. This dialogue culminates in Chapter 6 with the author's own intervention model, positioning social intervention in the social as the specific core of the profession and providing a compass to strengthen unity in dispersion. More than a thesis, this book is an invitation to reclaim the ethical essence of Social Work: to place the social at the centre and collectively build scenarios of social coexistence of solidarity based on reciprocity and trust, thereby displacing relationships of domination/submission, impunity, and exclusion.
