Su obra despliega una aproximación poética de testimonios, imágenes y textos que comprenden la naturaleza como un ser integral y viviente, mientras investiga el cambio climático y las ecologías del petróleo, los bosques y el agua. En sus videos de múltiples capas, la artista entreteje vastos paisajes cinematográficos con imágenes documentales, poesía de ciencia ficción y hallazgos académicos para narrar una realidad planetaria cambiante. Esta exposición —y la publicación que la acompaña— propone una
revisión de su investigación sobre la hidrosfera y sus repercusiones en el ecosistema, así como de su exploración sobre la selva amazónica como evidencia material del despojo y destrucción. Sus proyectos recientes se centran en una política del conocimiento para unir diversas corrientes epistemológicas sobre la inteligencia de la naturaleza y la relación entre todos los seres vivos que habitan estos espacios.

At a time of global biodiversity loss, the artistic practice of Ursula Biemann invites us to rethink the epistemic roots of our relationship with the Earth. Her work deploys a poetic approach involving testimonies, images and texts that understand nature as a living whole, while exploring climate change and the ecologies of oil, forests and water. In her multilayered videos, the artist interweaves vast cinematographic landscapes with documentary images, sci-fi poetry and academic findings to narrate the reality of a changing planet.
This exhibition and the publication that accompanies it review her investigations into the hydrosphere and its repercussions on the ecosystem, as well as her exploration of the Amazon rainforest as material evidence of dispossession and destruction. Her recent projects are centered on the politics of knowledge, bringing together a variety of epistemological currents that speak to the intelligence of nature and the relationship between all the living beings that dwell in these spaces.

Biemann, Ursula (artista)
Es artista, escritora y videoensayista. Su obra se centra en el trabajo de campo, con frecuencia en territorios indígenas, y en la creación de redes entre los diferentes campos del saber. Sus escritos y obras videográficas reflejan las ecologías políticas
de las selvas, el petróleo y el agua; además, proponen modelos ecocéntricos alternativos para relacionarse con el mundo natural. Su obra videográfica se exhibe en museos y bienales internacionales de arte de todo el mundo. En 2021 tuvo una
exhibición individual: Conocimiento indígena–Ficciones cosmológicas en el Musée d’art moderne et d’art contemporain (mamac) de Niza y tendrá una próxima en el Freieraum del MuseumsQuartier de Viena en septiembre de 2024. El proyecto
colaborativo colombiano Devenir Universidad se exhibió en la Biennale Architettura en 2023. Recientemente, Biemann publicó la monografía en línea Becoming Earth [Devenir con el mundo] donde expone diez años de sus escritos y trabajos en video sobre ecología con el Museo de Arte de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia
en Bogotá, así como el libro Forest Mind [Mente forestal] de la editorial
Spector Books (2022).
